Cecilia: little wonder of Elban winemaking created with mathematical approach
The Cecilia winery is located on the Island of Elba, producing wines that originate from the local lands. It was established thanks to efforts of Milanese engineer and industrialist Giuseppe Camerini, who having visited the island for almost 50 years, decided to develop his passion for viticulture and wine on his Elban farm Podere La Cascina. He began in 1990 with only two hectares of vines, nearly 20 years later the vineyard now comprises three small farmsteads on land surrounding Marina di Campo and covers approximately 10 hectares of vines.
Cecilia produce the main wines that come under the Elba DOC appellation. The winery's guiding principle is to mainly use grapevines that are typical of the local area - like Trebbiano, Ansonica, Vermentino and Aleatico - with a small contribution from foreign vines that are found to enhance their wine range. However, in response to the outstanding success of the new hilly vineyards of the "Marmi," the winery has decided to put out a pure Syrah called Oglasa. Oglasa is the old Etruscan name of island Montecristo being observed from winery’s “Marmi” vineyards.

The almost exclusive use of stainless steel in the cellars, together with a system of fermentation at controlled temperature and new filter systems, ensure that the winery is at the forefront in the most recent advances in wine-making. A newly created section for aging in 225 l barriques permits the perfect evolution of reserve wine Oglasa.
The motives of Cecilia graphic design are created by mathematical genius of Giuseppe Camerini and inspired by system of non-periodic tiling made by famous mathematician Roger Penrose. Today the estate is run by nephew of Giuseppe – Lorenzo Signorini. Having an experience of 9 harvests at the estate he knows exactly the way to create his family’s pride – Cecilia wines.
